LAMBRUSCO DI SORBARA

LAMBRUSCO DI SORBARA

Lambrusco di Sorbara is an autochthonous varietal of ancient origins that takes its name from the village of Sorbara, in the municipality of Bomporto, Modena. It features the condition known as millerandage, i.e. the berries remain small, just a few millmeters in diameter.
It is a RED WINE GRAPE variety and belongs to the Vitis Vinifera species, a family that descends from very ancient wild grape varieties of the Po Valley lowlands.
The CLUSTERS are MEDIUM-SIZED and CONICAL IN SHAPE. The GRAPE BERRIES are always MEDIUM-SIZED, SPHERICAL and BLUE in colour.
It is considered to be a high quality variety, so much so that it is often blended with certain noble varietals, such as French Picolit. Very low natural yields enhance the quality to a considerable extent and in Emilia, these vines are often cultivated together with Lambrusco Salamino.
